| London Borough of Redbridge's Public Protection unit chose the RapidReach Emergency Notification Service (ENS) to play a key role in their call-out procedures, as a part of their major incident management procedures.
Just seven miles from the centre of London and with over 238,000 residents, the Borough of Redbridge is one of the largest in the London area. It is an award-winning Council and employs more than 5000 people spread over 6-7 buildings in Ilford, Essex.
The Redbridge Major Incident Plan (REDMIP) has existed for many years and caters for all major incidents within or adjacent to the Borough, which impacts on its residents. Call-out procedures form an integral part of this plan and need to be flexible, resilient and user friendly.
The review of their existing notification system highlighted the concerns of operators about the system. They found the system call-outs slow and updating the contact details was proving to be time consuming. This prompted them to look for an alternative solution to their existing system,. investigated 4/5 products to see if there was a service which would match their expectations.
Following a detailed review of their call-out procedures, London Borough of Redbridge chose the RapidReach Emergency Notification Service as their call-out partner in February 2004.
